Recording the Classical Guitar wins 2022 ARSC Award for Best Historical Research (Recorded Classical Music)

I’m pleased to announce that my book Recording the Classical Guitar recently won Best History in the category Best Historical Research on Recorded Classical Music in the 2022 Association for Recorded Sound Collections Awards for Excellence. Begun in 1991, the ARSC Awards are given to authors of books, articles or recording liner notes to recognize those publishing the very best work today in recorded sound research. For more information about the Awards, see here.

Recording the Classical Guitar: supplementary article series

Over the next few months this blog will be devoted to publishing a series of short articles discussing artists and recordings that, due to the limitations of space, did not make it into my new book Recording the Classical Guitar. I will also be expanding on my discussions of certain artists that were included in the book but who were only considered briefly. Also, by way of a taster of what is in the book I will be periodically publsihing short excerpts from the original monograph text.

These articles should begin to appear from the publication of the book onwards at the rate of around one or two per month.
